Approval of the Official Statistics Program 2017-2021

The Parliament of Albania, on 9.2.2017, approved the Program on Official Statistics 2017-2021, the third document of this kind since the creation of the Institute of Statistics and approval of law no. 9180, on 5.2.2004 “On Official Statistics”.

The Program is the fundamental document which regulates the output of official statistics from the National Statistical System, necessary on the monitoring of the economic, social and environmental situation in the Republic of Albania.  Also, the Program orientates INSTAT and other statistical agencies towards the quality of statistical output in accordance with the foreseen standards in Acquis Communitaire.

INSTAT is responsible authority of the proposal of the draft-Program on Official Statistics to the Council of Statistics, as well as to ensure its implementation, in accordance with article 7, point 2 of law no.9180 “On Official Statistics”.

It is also determined that the project-document can undergo changes, in accordance with article 11, point 1 of Law of Statistics, the Council of Statistics can decide and authorize the annual update of the Program regarding the practical side of its implementation, as well as inform the Council of Ministers and Parliament on the respective modifications.
