Establishment of the Coordination Center Against Violent Extremism

By decision no. 737, dated 13.12.2017, the Council of Ministers decided to establish a Center for Coordination against Violent Extremism as a public and budgetary entity, subordinated to the Prime Minister, based in Tirana. The mission of this center is to develop capacities of various actors involved in actions against violent extremism, to preserve and promote values of tolerance and religious harmony, the protection of human rights, rule of law and democracy, as well as the protection of Albanian society by violent extremism. The decision defines not only the powers of the CCVE but also the main duties and responsibilities of the center’s director, who is appointed, released and dismissed by the Prime Minister. For the realization of the tasks, the CCVE has its own budget, which is created by the state budget, income from domestic or foreign donors and other legitimate income.
